Kharma International, based in Breda, Netherlands, holds a unique position in high-end audio as the pioneer of the diamond tweeter. In 2001, Kharma was the first to use diamond, the stiffest natural material, as a loudspeaker membrane. This innovation continues to guide the company's approach.
Founder Charles van Oosterum believes a loudspeaker should transmit emotion, and that any resonance or coloration separates the listener from the performance. Kharma addresses this by using diamond and beryllium drivers, proprietary carbon-composite cones, and meticulously crafted cabinets.
The Elegance, Exquisite, and flagship Enigma Veyron collections are handcrafted in Breda in limited quantities, specified to individual requirements. Their sound offers exceptional resolution and delicacy, creating a refined listening experience.

Diamond, Beryllium and the Pursuit of Zero
Kharma’s technical focus is developing an ideal piston: a membrane that is exceptionally stiff and light, moves uniformly, and remains free from distortion within the audible range.
Diamond represents the ultimate material choice. Its membrane shifts the first breakup resonance well beyond the audible range, making the tweeter virtually ideal: free from ringing, coloration, or distortion. Kharma introduced this technology in 2001 and has refined it continuously. Today, diamond concave tweeters are featured in the Exquisite and Enigma collections, with flagship models also incorporating diamond midrange domes. The Elegance line uses beryllium, offering similar speed.
For lower frequencies, Kharma developed Omega drivers with ultra-stiff carbon-composite cones, engineered in-house to match the tweeters' speed. This ensures consistent sound character across the entire frequency spectrum.
The cabinets are constructed from high-pressure, high-density laminates, internally braced for maximum inertness, and finished with up to twenty coats of hand-polished mirror lacquer in Breda. Crossovers use premium components and Kharma’s proprietary cabling.
Kharma’s engineering aims for complete transparency between listener and recording. This is not just a marketing phrase, but a measurable design objective achieved through advanced materials such as diamond.
Elegance, Exquisite, Enigma Veyron
Kharma's collections progress like couture lines, sharing a distinctive silhouette and increasing in sophistication.
The Elegance collection represents the brand's contemporary core, featuring models such as the S7, dB7, dB9, and dB11-S. These include beryllium tweeters, Kharma composite drivers, and the signature sloped cabinet, available in any finish a client desires. Elegance offers the authentic Kharma experience—refined, spacious, and harmonically rich—in formats designed for real living spaces. It remains the collection most owners choose for daily use.
The Exquisite collection serves as the classic statement line, featuring diamond tweeters, larger designs, and uncompromising craftsmanship. These loudspeakers have been the foundation of many renowned systems worldwide for over two decades. Models such as the Exquisite Midi and Grand continue to set the standard for combining high resolution with tonal beauty.
At the pinnacle is Enigma Veyron, Kharma's response to the pursuit of ultimate performance. These systems feature diamond and beryllium arrays, sculpturally designed cabinets, and are custom-built for the most prestigious spaces worldwide.
Each Kharma loudspeaker is handcrafted in Breda. Cabinets are lacquered and polished over several weeks, drivers are carefully matched, and every finished loudspeaker is auditioned before shipping. Bespoke finishes, including custom colors, veneers, and client-specific details, are standard in the upper collections. Production reflects patience, and ownership is a source of pride.

Handcrafted in Breda
Each Kharma loudspeaker leaves the Breda atelier after weeks of lacquering and hand-polishing. Hardware is finished to a high standard, and drivers are individually measured and matched.
The craftsmanship reflects Dutch values: quiet precision and restraint. Clients select finishes as they would for interiors, and the factory has produced loudspeakers tailored to yachts, artworks, and architectural spaces.
This same patience extends to support: collections evolve gradually, parts remain available for decades, and a Kharma from the 2000s can still be serviced by its original builders. These products are designed for long-term ownership and can become musical heirlooms.

Why choose Kharma?
In high-end audio, some systems impress while others enchant. For over thirty years, Kharma has specialized in creating systems that captivate listeners.
Kharma’s sound speaks for itself. Its advanced resolution delivers beauty and detail. Rich timbres, such as the wood of a cello or the breath in a voice, stand out against quiet, immersive backgrounds. Owners report that listening sessions are relaxing and enjoyable, often lasting for hours without fatigue. If you value the experience of live acoustic music, Kharma is designed for you.
Kharma is also a visual statement. Its Breda-lacquered finish and distinctive sloped silhouette make each speaker unique. In any setting where design is important, Kharma stands out with confidence.
Kharma also offers practical advantages. The Elegance line’s efficiency and easy load are well suited to refined amplifiers, including tube and Class A models. Exceptional craftsmanship and reliable parts support ensure long-term service. Limited production and a loyal owner community help maintain lasting value.
Above all, choose Kharma if you seek a system to love, not just admire. This distinction becomes clear within minutes, which is why we encourage auditions.
