Audionet was founded in a research laboratory at Bochum University, where its founders first developed measurement and medical electronics. They later applied the same scientific rigor to music reproduction. This foundation still defines the company: every claim is measurable, and every circuit decision is based on physics rather than tradition.

Today, Audionet designs and manufactures its electronics in Berlin, producing amplifiers and sources with exceptional bandwidth, minimal distortion, and instrument-grade stability. This approach has earned the company the nickname 'scientific magic': measurable engineering, yet delivers a musical experience beyond measurement.

The Scientist series—Stern, Heisenberg, and Humboldt—represents the top of Audionet’s range. Developed in collaboration with Hartmut Esslinger, founder of frog design and designer of early Apple products, the series exemplifies German high-end audio through advanced engineering and distinctive design, without compromise.

Physics First: The Ultra-Wideband Doctrine

Audionet’s engineering principle is clear: an amplifier achieves neutrality only if it is significantly faster and quieter than the signal it transmits. This requires ultra-wideband circuit design, with amplifiers offering bandwidth well beyond the audible range to ensure near-perfect phase and amplitude behavior within the musical spectrum.

Maintaining stability at this level demands rigorous measurement engineering. Audionet develops proprietary output stages with very short signal paths, uses local instead of global feedback, and equips its amplifiers with laboratory-grade power supplies that are highly specified, multi-stage regulated, and feature separate supplies for sensitive circuits. Microphonic and thermal effects, often overlooked by others, are carefully modeled and eliminated, reflecting Audionet’s background in medical electronics where precision is critical.

The result is a distinctive Audionet sound, consistently described by reviewers as fast, transparent, and exceptionally stable. Transients are rendered precisely, complex orchestral passages retain their structure at any volume, and the exceptionally low noise floor gives recordings remarkable clarity.

This approach is grounded in technical rigor rather than romanticism. Audionet’s founders believed that by fully addressing the physics, exceptional results would follow. Four decades of measurements and listener feedback have validated this philosophy.

The Scientist Series and Beyond

At the top of the Audionet range is the Scientist series, named after renowned innovators and designed by Hartmut Esslinger of Frog Design. The Stern preamplifier, meaning "star" in German, features a dual-chassis design with galvanically isolated control and audio sections, and is considered among the most advanced line stages available. Its counterpart, the Heisenberg mono amplifiers, provide 530 watts into 8 ohms with precise, immediate power from aluminum and glass enclosures. For those seeking flagship performance in a single unit, the Humboldt integrated combines Stern and Heisenberg technologies in a 45-kilogram design.

Beneath the flagship models, the classic Audionet range offers the same core technology in more accessible formats. The Watt integrated amplifier, Pre G2 preamplifier, and Max mono amplifiers have been recognized by the German press as benchmarks. The Planck CD player and Ampere power supply are regarded as one of the most respected digital front ends of the past decade.

All components are manufactured in Berlin in small batches. Each board is individually assembled and tested, chassis are machined from solid aluminum, and every unit undergoes comprehensive laboratory testing before shipping. Audionet maintains the precision of a measurement instrument maker, reflecting its origins.

The design language is disciplined and architectural, with the Scientist series exemplifying functional sculpture. Audionet components appeal to those who value technical specifications, yet their aesthetics complement any sophisticated environment.

Berlin Precision, Instrument-Grade Build

Audionet manufactures electronics with the precision of laboratory instruments. Circuit boards are designed for optimal signal integrity and assembled in small production runs in Berlin. Each unit undergoes burn-in, is measured against reference protocols, and is documented before shipment.

This commitment to measurement is evident in features such as temperature-stable bias circuits, isolated digital and analog domains, and multi-stage regulated power supplies. These practices ensure consistent amplifier performance over time.

Audionet focuses on substance over showmanship and maintains a strong service culture. Components are supported and updated for decades, reflecting the belief that instruments should be maintained rather than discarded.

Why choose Audionet?

Among high-end amplifiers, there are two approaches: enjoyable coloration or trustworthy neutrality. Audionet exemplifies the latter, achieving a level of completeness that few companies match.

Select Audionet if you value accurate timbre. Its components neither add warmth nor diminish clarity; instruments sound as they were recorded, revealing the quality of each recording. For those with diverse music collections, this neutrality isn't sterile; it removes barriers between you and the performance. The ultra-wideband circuits restore musical attack, while the low noise floor preserves silence.

Audionet is ideal for challenging loudspeakers. The Heisenberg and Max models offer measurement-grade stability with complex loads. Audionet amplifiers are renowned for their reliable control, even under demanding conditions.

Audionet is designed for longevity. Berlin-based production, instrument-grade components, and a service culture rooted in the measurement industry ensure these products endure beyond trends and outlast most systems. Their strong resale values reflect this reputation.

For those who value design, the Scientist series stands out as one of the few flagship electronics ranges developed with a world-class industrial designer. The Stern and Heisenberg models are intended to be displayed, not concealed.
